Cheshire Academy gymnast Celia Flegg won the Crewe and Nantwich Mayors Oscar and Title of 'sports Personality of the year" at a special ceremony held in the Civic Hall in Nantwich.

Celia received her mayoral Oscar from Steven Roberts the current mayor of Crewe and Nantwich.

Tribute was paid to the tremendous success that Celia has attained in her sport of Rhythmic gymnastics at a national and world level and also her wonderful role as an ambassador of the sport.

Celia is currently a World Special Olympic Games Rhythmic Gymnastics champion.(click here for more information)

Celias success has brought great credit and kudos to the local borough and continues to raise the profile of disability rhythmic gymnastics nationally.

Celia continues to compete in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics and coaches and teaches a whole range of younger gymnasts with disabilities.

Although Celias disabilities means that she cannot speak this has never been a barrier to her being able to assist and inspire these younger gymnasts so that they can perform to their best ability.

Celia continues competing at the sport of rhythmic gymnastics and is a key member of the Cheshire Academy rhythmic gymnastics team selected to compete at the national special Olympic games to be held in Glasghow during 2005.

Celia Flegg competes at a number of different sports and is a keen and active member of the Academy Boccia team
