| The Cheshire Academy has close links with a whole range of local health and education professionals.
Which health professionals access the Academy? Because of our long experience with working with children and adults with disabilities we receive referrals and recommendations from a variety of health professionals such as GP's, District Nurses, School Nurses, Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists. What sort of help do we provide? We assist health professionals by developing structured programmes to cater for individual childrens physical or learning disability needs. Families with disabled children are often under very great stress and much of our work will involve close work with the family . Which educational professionals access the Academy? The head teachers and staff from a number of local schools liaise closely with the Academy and value the experience and advice we can give over a range of matters concerning children and disability. We are often asked to visit schools and give advice about children with disabilities that are having difficulty integrating into school. What sort of help can we give? We develop specific behaviour programmes for children and assist families to develop strategies to improve their childrens behaviour. We can be invited into schools to discuss individual children and give advice with respect to behaviour and disability. Occasionally teachers will attend the academy to see how we work with specific children so that they can adopt ideas to introduce into their own individual school programmes If you are a professional in the Health or Education field, and you would like to know how the Cheshire Academy can help develop programmes for children with disabilities, please contact us on healthandeducation@disabilitysport.com |
